Things of My Very Own

A 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization that helps children in crisis.

Some parents have to sacrifice far too much after leaving their abusers. This mom's selflessness shows the devotion and love she has for her children. Like most parents, she wants her children to be safe and provided for. What she had to do to accomplish this would likely traumatize most, but the important thing is that she is giving her all to keep her family safe. Will you help her children or another child?

From now until December 31, you can Sponsor a Child in Crisis by making a donation on our website at thingsofmyveryown.org/donate/. The first 500 people who donate $100 or more will receive a custom, shatter-proof "Forget Me Not Ornament." Each ornament contains a description of the child you so generously helped to sponsor and everything you need to grow your very own Forget Me Nots. We hope this gift will remind you of the life-altering impact you made on a child in your community who desperately needed you to step in and be part of their support system.

To receive your custom Forget Me Not Ornament, simply make a donation on our website, forward your receipt to [email protected], and let us know that you would like to pick up your ornament. A team member will contact you once it is ready for pick-up.

We thank you in advance for supporting this child, and the other children who need you now more than ever.

Things of My Very Own is a FOUR-STAR charity and can be found on Charity Navigator.

Am I reading this right? This 12 year old girl is donating plasma to feed her kids?? She has at least 2 children? There should be a ton of assistance for her. Food stamps alone should take care of groceries. She shouldn't have to do that at 12! πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

Thousands of people across the Capital District donate plasma for income. It's not a terrifying process. It's very similar to donating blood. Your families have even real trauma. Don't add false trauma to their life

Donate if you can. Judgement free. Be kind. You never know what someone is dealing with. Give if you can. Just be kind.

They are totally legitimate and do wonderful things.

Sending prayers to All πŸ™β£οΈ

I hope my donation helps ❀️

This is an incredible organization

Will you be doing a second round of tags this year?

Things of My Very Own I have brand new hygiene items to donate. Can I drop off Saturday morning?

What is that number? Un 0165??

Do you accept gently used clothing?

Kids grow big these days my two granddaughters that are 12 and 14 are much taller than I am and we're the same size that I do I'm five two and a half and weigh 160

Size 11 wide women's? I have gently used boots and sneakers I could donate?

Capital City Rescue Mission has a clothing pantry with days specially for woman and children. Some of the stuff is brand new.

Hello my dear can you send me it where we press on

I wish I could receive some help I've tried for years

Thank you to everyone who commented on this post. It is clear that many of you have kind, loving, and giving hearts. For all that each of you are, we thank you. Many of our guests follow us on social media. Encouraging words are always appreciated. For safety reasons, we do not introduce the children and families we serve to members of the general public. We also do not share more than each family is comfortable sharing on our social media pages. The Sponsor a Child in Crisis Program is about more than holiday gifts. It creates connections between those with love in their hearts and those who are hurting. We encourage those moved by this post to sponsor this boy or another child in crisis today. Your gift will show a child that they are not as alone as they often feel.

How can we specifically donate to this child? I didn’t see an option on the donation site.

I wish we could match kids with surrogate parents! I would gladly become his surrogate Mom!

Whenever I sponsor a child, I pick the teens. People forget they are still children but expected to act like adults. They still need understanding and a soft touch. I lost my mother when I was 11. I get it.

No seriously. You can't just post this and break a million mom hearts y'all! 😭 Is there a way to connect? Is this a foster child? I was 17 when my mom passed away.

As a mom that buried a daughter a few years ago. This truly breaks my heart. Is mentorship available or just things?

Yes all of you can sign up to foster and be this kids mom; or one just like him!

how sad πŸ™ I just want to hug all of the kids and families like this who just ask for simple things for the holidays, like food, which many of us take for granted πŸ™ πŸ™ My heart hurts also for other cases you share on here from the wish tags too, so many people especially kids have been through so much at such a young age, it's not fair <3 <3

Oh gosh, I wish he only knew he had a bunch of internet mamas… bless himπŸ˜’πŸ’™βœ¨

Although this young man is not currently available to foster, there are many children just like him waiting and wishing for their forever home. Please consider becoming a foster parent, all expenses and training is provided for you! You can get more information by contacting your local DSS or a local contracted agency. ❀️

My mama heart is breaking. Also came here to say that anyone that feels pulled to this post, don’t forget you can easily sign up to be a big brother or big sister through BBBS of the Capital Region too. It is truly wonderful and it really can shape lives of children as well as be super rewarding for you.

Oh how do I become his Mom???

Oh man, this one made me cry. This charity does great work. I’m not even local but I donate every year.

One thing this has shown besides the obvious, we have so many who would open their homes mine included if it was easier which it should be not just the cost of adoption but getting the approval for regular income homes !!!

Is he in Foster care?! If so I’m interested in fostering to Adopt him. Someone please provide me with info.

The wish tags are always heartbreaking, but this one...this one is a killer. I hope this young man finds the love and happiness he deserves. I know the organization is not allowed to give out contact information, but if he sees this, I hope he knows there are many mama's on here that would take him under their wing. I know I'm one of them. ❀️

Is there anything else this sweet boy would want besides clothing and food? Just things for fun, to spoil him a little?

I wish I was able to support myself enough to foster or adopt children. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine.

Just donated, praying this young man feels a mothers love β€οΈπŸ™πŸΌπŸ₯Ί

Hi πŸ‘‹ how can I apply to be the mom? Serious question? Is this foster kid? Can at least be a mentor?

I’ll be his Mom.

I would love to have this child's Christmas wish list. Can I sponsor his Christmas? Things of My Very Own please let me know how I can make this child's holiday a little better.

Like big brothers and big sisters I need to be a rent a nana( free) .I just want to hug all these kids

Omygosh. I try to teach my kids to be grateful. They have no clue how well they have it.

Such a great organization. I got 5 wish tags from Lia Toyota . I can't believe the simple things they want like shampoo, conditioner, things we take for granted. I dropped my donations back to,Lia on Central. Please if you can pick a tag from the places that offer them, do it.
